Shantae Advance Costume Concept Art Gallery
9/19/2025
Check out the preliminary designs of the awesome outfits in the Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution Deluxe Edition!
Can you believe it's already been a whole month since the console/PC digital launch of Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution!? Ya spend 20+ years getting a game Ret-2-Go, and suddenly — KABLOOEY! — it's out there in the world and an entire month has passed! We hope you've all been enjoying this lost chapter of the Shantae saga and discovering what happened between the original Shantae game and Shantae: Risky's Revenge — meeting new and familiar characters, rearranging levels, exploring labyrinths, and even duking it out with friends in 4-player local Battle Mode. And, of course, if you’ve picked up the Deluxe Edition, you can defend Sequin Land wearing three stylish new outfits — the Relic Hunter Costume, High Voltage Costume, and Sizzle Armor Costume — designed by Shantae series director Matt Bozon, Shantae creator Erin Bozon, and artist Nami (N_Sakurajyousui). Matt previously shared these concept sketches for the new outfits on social media, but in case you missed them, we’re giving you another chance right here!
Relic Hunter Costume
The Relic Hunter Costume is inspired by Uncle Mimic’s friends, the Relic Hunters, who play a critical role in Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution. The idea behind the costume was "What would it look like if Shantae cosplayed as Uncle Mimic?" — but with Shantae's unique spin, of course! Wearing this adventurous getup grants a permanent power-up to Shantae’s Pike Ball Magic.
High Voltage Costume
The High Voltage Costume went through a lot of iteration, as you can see, but the general idea was to impart a sense of modern, techwear-inspired style, complete with headphones and a holographic ponytail. The “1994” graphical text on the pant leg signifies the year that Shantae was created! The costume also grants hyper energy to Shantae’s electrical Storm Puff magic.
Sizzle Armor Costume
An early idea for the Sizzle Armor Costume was to make it insect-themed, taking inspiration from a fiery bombardier beetle! The final design is more based on 1980s-style anime bikini armor, with fluorescent reds, dragonslayer-esque plating, and gleaming gemstones. Shantae’s ponytail even changes into a fire-whip! It powers-up Shantae's Fireball magic.
If you haven't snagged Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution yet, it is available now digitally on Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Steam in both regular and Deluxe Editions (the Deluxe Edition being the only way to get those costumes shown above; the rest of the content is identical!), and we'll even leave these handy links here just in case!
