I’m a silly guy that makes Let’s Play videos on the web, and I’ve wanted to do the Shantae series for a while. With the currently ongoing Smash Ballot I figured now would be the best time to play through them to promote and get Shantae hyped to possibly be in Smash as DLC! While I have played through all the games and I’m planning on going for 100% in all of them (as best as possible) I wanted to start a topic on the series in general and see what kind of fun information people might have. I’ve started recording already, but I wanted to get more insight on the character and her world that I might not already have.
The idea of the video series then is “Summer of Shantae” in which all of the games are played over the summer in preparation for the Smash Ballot’s cut-off date of Oct. 3. I figured this would be the best community to discuss this kind of information with considering we’re all WF fans.
The actual video series would not start until after E3, slightly before or after the official first day of summer (June 21).
Apologies in advance if this was the wrong area to put this kind of topic. While it is Shantae-related, it isn’t necessarily strictly so (as it is about videos I’m making) so I figured this was the safest place to put this topic.
I’ll be checking this topic periodically to discuss different stuff as I go through the games, and probably post the videos when they go live! You can bet that I’d love to see Shantae in Smash, which is why I’m tackling this project right now.

As I’m starting to get information and begin editing what I have, something occurred to me:
Is the manual for the original GBC game canon? I know that’s a weird thing to ask since that’s usually the case, but just want to check to be sure. Lots of cool stuff in there like Bolo being Shantae’s sparring partner, and what not!
In fact, I’m kind of ashamed I didn’t look at the manual (the Virtual Console one) until now. Plenty of fantastic artwork as well.
