I’ve been a big fan of Shantae since I played the DS release of Risky’s Revenge and played every game in the series. My favourite being Pirate’s Curse which I bought on 3DS. And that game had an excellent localization.
And when I heard about the kickstarter of 1/2 Genie Hero, I pledged and decided to get the game for my PS Vita. But lo and behold I never touched the game again ever since its release because of the god awful localization.
Typos (huge ones), stuff that didn’t make sense…it was painful to look at.
I tried again one year later (December 2017) to see if a patch has been released but nope, nothing. Still the same google translated texts.
And I think it is a shame because, despite some faults regarding some ideas, designs, bosses etc…the game is good (not as much as Pirate’s Curse though) and fun.
So my question is : Has a patch for the european languages been released or am I (as well as fellow europeans who are not english) doomed to play the Ultimate Steam version (which I got for free due to my pledge) in english ?
Because seriously, I don’t mind playing with english texts, but a translation is always welcome. But when it is done by toddlers who used google translate, well it’s a huge turn-off.April 23, 2018 at 11:09 pm #14662
Nope, the translations still are a broken mess.
Got my Ultimate copy for Switch yesterday and popped it in expecting a flawless experience, but alas, the translations hadn’t changed a bit since the game was released on PC.
WF promised they would fix them once all the extra content and DLC had been made, but I wonder if they will ever address the translations.
At least give us an option to switch the language so our eyes wont bleed by having to read a ****-poor google translation.April 24, 2018 at 7:39 pm #14664
Thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention. The people who translate our games do their best, but we understand that some issues can slip through. I can’t comment too extensively on the subject, but I can tell you that this is something we’re working on improving, and that your comments have been passed along to the right people.
