Comes out tomorrow at Noon! on Steam Early Access!

From the day she was born, Patricia Wagon has dreamed of becoming a police officer! And today, at Planet Land Police Academy she’ll finally have her chance to prove her mettle! The only thing standing between her and a badge are a slew of holographic challenges deviously designed by her instructor, the robotic Corporal Gendarmour. These drills will push Patty’s skills to the max as she blasts foes and outwits puzzles – all on her way to apprehending dastardly simulations of public enemy numbers 1 through 5: the Hooligan Sisters! Help Patty survive her trials and prove that she was made for this job!

Mighty Switch Force! Academy is a spin-off of the original police-themed, dimension-switching game by WayForward. Here in the Academy, these massively brain-twisting shooter/puzzles become bigger than life, spanning the entire HD screen! Academy contains brand new puzzles and some twists on the classics – introducing a hectic cooperative couch-play option, for up to 4 players, which will have you and your fellow trainees in stitches.

Mighty Switch Force! Academy is part shooter, part puzzle, part party, and partly developed…? HOLD IT RIGHT THERE! The game is currently in Early Access, and that means you can get in on the action and help SHAPE THE GAME with your feedback in the Steam Forums. Co-op? Competitive? More levels? New ideas? This game is ready to play today, and SWITCH UP tomorrow according to your feedback! A new way to play together from your friends at WayForward! Move out!

Early Access Syllabus

Why Early Access?
“Mighty Switch Force! Academy has been built brand new, from the ground up! Now we’d like to ENLIST the help of our fans to make sure it’s everything you want in a Mighty Switch Force! game. Early Access gives us an opportunity to work with you directly, and we can’t wait to see what you think!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“Ideally Mighty Switch Force! Academy will be in Early Access for a few months. But this is only an estimate. We’ll keep going until until it’s done right!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“Academy began as a side project at the studio, taking existing music and art assets from previous Mighty Switch Force! titles to prove out a new idea. Some of these assets fit perfectly and will remain in the game, while others will be updated or replaced along the way. Our path to completion is fixing any major crash issues, making sure multiplayer is smooth, and expanding on the game in a few areas such as:

  • VS. Mode – a new competitive mode where players will battle other players to rescue the most hooligan sisters, pickup upgrades, and try to crush their opponents.
  • Mighty Shot (it works but isn’t implemented through menu flow).
  • The goal for the final level count (not including classic stages) is between 25-30, but this is tentative.
  • Steam Leaderboards and Achievements.
  • Additional victory illustrations.
  • New “phase-in” animations for Gendarmor, Ugly Twitching Dog, and the Hooligan Sisters.
  • New level songs.
  • More robust options as the community makes requests.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“Mighty Switch Force! Academy is in a “Pre-Alpha” state. The core functionality of the game is already there, and the look and feel of the levels are close to final. All of the block types, enemies, checkpoints, and more are in and working. And, it’s incredibly fun!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
“The price will not change when we leave Early Access. The value of the game’s content today is priced very similarly to other titles in the series.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
“Mighty Switch Force! has an active community of speedrunners, and we want to be sure that the controls and playability are up to their standards. We also will be listening closely to feedback about par times, level designs and flow, multiplayer feedback, and options players would like to see in order to make their game experience great.”
